Gothic Glam by Collection

Yesterday, Collection’s new range, ‘Gothic Glam’ launched in Superdrug. There are three new lip and nail colours available, perfect for vampy make-up as we move further into Autumn/Winter.

I’m a big fan of Collection’s lipsticks, so I was delighted to see that the shades were different to anything else they offer. I’ve been on the lookout for some new shades for my nail polish collection, to wear alongside my ever darkening A/W wardrobe. I bought the shades I favoured the most, Seduction and Revenge in the lipsticks, at £2.99 each, and Dramatic and Deadly in the nail polish.

I was drawn to Seduction as I love deep reds. When I tried this on I was surprised to find that it is ever so slightly pink-toned, making it a gorgeous cherry red (below). I was hoping the formula would be the same as the Lasting Colour lipsticks, which are highly pigmented and have great staying power, and it seemed to me as though they are.

I was curious to see how Revenge, an even deeper, darker red, would look on me.  I’ve never worn such a bold, dark red before, but actually I really like it. It is a dark, blood-red with a purple undertone, and I can imagine this statement colour being great for evenings out. Both shades are very festive, and perfect for winter and dark nights. I love how Revenge looks (below) and the contrast against pale make-up and hair.

I picked up nail colours Dramatic and Deadly at £3.19 each.  I like shimmery nail colours and while I love the effect of glitter, it’s a nightmare to remove and these looked sparkly without consisting of large pieces of glitter.

Deadly (below) is a dark green with tiny gold specks of glitter. It catches the light beautifully and it’s unlike any other nail polish colour I own, which, considering my nail polish addiction, is something of an accolade!

During the colder months I tend to opt for dark reds and purples when it comes to clothes, so I thought I’d end up getting a fair bit of mileage from Dramatic (below).  The shimmer is more subtle than Deadly, it’s definitely not as glittery. Colour-wise it’s comparable to Rimmel’s Metal Rush nail colour in Purple Reign but featuring tiny gold flecks.

What do you think of Collection’s latest, er, collection? Are you a fan of vampy make-up? How would you style these shades?
